Today is Fun With Family and today we are working on the letter "G".
First we will work on the G recipe - Good for You Grilled Shish-ka-bob!

To make this-you will need fresh fruits and vegetables,
shish-ka-bob skewers,
and a Teriyaki marinade .
We used Lawry's Teriyaki 30 minute marinade with pineapple juice

We used - apples, grapes, cantaloupe, honeydew melon,
and pineapple for our fruit selection.
Arrange the fruits on a plate so that everyone can reach them.
Give everyone a skewer and allow the kids to start placing fruit on them.
Make sure to keep an eye on little ones with the skewer- they may need some assistance.
After everyone is done- place the finished skewers on a plate and drizzle the Teriyaki sauce over the fruit. Roll fruit around to cover all sides with sauce.
Now go to grilling!
If the weather is not appropriate for grilling -
roast in the oven on broil for a short period.
Grill/broil and turn until the fruits all look done.
Pull the fruit off the skewers for younger kids and dig in-
Tasty treat that they will enjoy!
The g craft is growing a garden!

It is important to start teaching kids at a young age to help give back to Mother Earth.
Right now we are working on germinating the seeds.
Take an empty egg carton and fill with a good potting soil.
Place a few seeds into each hole .
Cover with dirt again .
Lightly water and stick egg garden in a nice sunny spot.
Take the seed package and lightly tape to the inside of the cover.
That way- we will remember what you planted and we can refer to the instructions on back when we go to plant the sprouts.
We will come back to this in a few weeks once we start to have sprouts!

Those kabobs will be awesome for canping this summer. Thanks for sharing.
Oh, Melissa- all of that fresh fruit is making me drool! How yummy and what a great way to invite your children to eat something healthy and in a fun way. You are so on the ball with already getting things ready for your garden! That's awesome!
I actually had a spare minute today and we made fruit kabobs and the kids loved them! And we actually are growing a garden (well forcing a bulb anyways), but there you go. My family fun day with a G.
OH! And I did add embroidery and it came out so sweet! I didn't even think to take more pictures before wrapping it up. Are the ones I sent you already good enough?
What wonderful looking fruit kabobs! It looks so delicious. And great job getting your kids excited about gardening!!!
Have a great weekend!

Yum, I know that the teriyaki sauce really helped bring out the sweetness in those fruit kabobs! You're always so on the ball. When I grow up, I want to be a combination of you, Carlotta, Carla C, and Kristina! Guess I don't have much chance at that--as you all are YOUNGER by a mile than I am!
Shelly
